Nitrogen (N) is a major component of protein and the protein content of feeds is determined by multiplying the nitrogen content of the feed by 6.25. For example, copra meal with a nitrogen content of approximately 3.36% has a crude protein content of approximately 21% (i.e. 3.36 x 6.25).
