Web15. jan 2024. · Lichen sclerosus (also known as lichen sclerosus et atrophicus) is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by the presence of porcelain-white, atrophic plaques on the skin (picture 1A-C). Most cases of lichen sclerosus involve the female genitalia; extragenital manifestations occur in a minority of patients. The epidermis shows hyperkeratosis, significant thinning with loss of the normal rete ridge pattern and plugging of follicular infundibulae (Figure 3).
